"The trance of painting with Picasso" - Anne-Lise Coste
Like all good French people, artist Anne-Lise Coste is protesting.
A little more serious than the egg-smashing farmers in Brittany (really.) Coste is an artist against war. All of it. And she believes in the power of art to make this statement.
Coste appropriates what is probably the world's most famous anti-war painting, Picasso's GUERNICA. She pulls out details and recreates them in the medium of today's protestors - graffiti. She paints quickly and freely. One work per day. Each canvas a graphic echo of something Picasso painted.
