37-year-old New Yorker, Alan Reid, is an artist who knows his history. His soft gauzy paintings are a mélange from the masters of modern art.
One of his ethereal beauties is GIZA (she's the one on your left, judging your outfit choice). A blank faced beauty, she stares off into space like a Modigliani model (nip-slip archetype on right).
The dreamy palette, an abstraction of the light captured in so many of John Singer Sargent’s society portraits. And, the chair-caning-patterned dress a direct reference to Picasso’s playful Cubist experimentation.
So many in-jokes. Guffaw!
While the inspirations will cost you millions (69 of them in the case of that Modigliani), Reid’s works range from $4,500 - $8,000.
