Who said painting was dead... Well, Parisian painter Paul Delaroche, in 1839, upon seeing an early form of photography... But two painters in two weeks on wowee does suggest otherwise
32-year-old, New York City based, TM Davy is a capital P painter. Weirdly, for art produced in the in the last 150 (plus) years, he paints fully rendered scenes of subjects drawn from everyday life... Davy's art historical sources vary wildly - from Caravaggio, to Mapplethorpe, to Richter's early candle paintings.
The very personal nature of his subjects makes the viewer feel a bit like a perve. Sometimes we peep in on intimate moments between TM and his partner Liam (Mapplethorpe). At other times we are allowed to study a portrait while the subject conveniently gazes off the other way (Caravaggio).
